Why Donate

Your donation will enable us to expand the Compass Fellowship to new schools throughout the country. The fellowship inspires the start of student-led social businesses and provides every student with business skills, internship opportunities, seed capital and a vibrant support community so that each fellow can become a successful social entrepreneur.

Where We have Come So Far

  1. In just one year of operation, our pilot program has not just inspired the fellows involved, but also empowered over 100 students at Georgetown to engage in the social entrepreneurship community.
  2. Each of our fellows receives a unique educational experience that would be unavailable without the Fellowship. According to them, this experience has been the most beneficial way of learning in college.
  3. Fifteen socially impactful business ventures have emerged from our pilot program. Each successful fellow creates a direct benefit to society.
  4. Outside mentors and partners are buying in. It is a true privilege to learn from the best and brightest leaders out there, but those that work closely with our fellows have felt equally privileged to be a part of their learning experience.
  5. The Compass Fellowship model is scalable and capable of success at every university.

Expansion to The George Washington University

The Compass Fellows program is cementing its base at George Washington University for Fall 2010 through partnerships with the GWU School of Business, Social Enterprise Forum, and undergraduate Net Impact chapter which will facilitate the process of replicating the Georgetown pilot program’s success.  Dan Preiss, the founder of GWU’s Compass Fellows chapter, and his team will spend the summer preparing for what promises to be a tremendous journey starting this fall.

Expansion to American University

Through the hard work of Sheena Yoon, her team and a solid partnership with the School of International Studies, the Compass Fellowship will be launching at American University this fall.  By reaching out to professors, graduate students, and other community leaders, the American University team is spending the late summer solidifying its program and preparing for the arrival of its freshman applicants.  The group is looking forward to an exciting first year.
